Policy Statement
Expectations

Students are expected to attend weekly lessons, scheduled group classes, and commit to practicing at home for the duration of the semester.

Students will participate in a studio recital at the end of each semester (new students and students over the age of 18 are not required to participate).

Students must bring required materials to each lesson.

Students are required to purchase instruments that comply with the teacher’s expectations for size and quality.

Students must maintain appropriate grooming and etiquette for each lesson (short fingernails, a respectful attitude, etc).

Students 8 years old and younger are encouraged to be accompanied by a parent/legal guardian during the lesson.

Siblings present at the studio during a lesson must behave in a respectful manner that does not hinder the lesson.

Students and teachers will uphold all copyright laws.

Students are encouraged to have a virtual lesson if any flu-like symptoms are present.

Masks are permitted but are not required.

Students are encouraged to contact the teacher through email if any questions arise. Contact by phone is available on weekdays from 1:00pm-3:00pm or by appointment.
Attendance and Scheduling

Students will be expected to attend weekly lessons and occasional group classes throughout the semester.

Lesson times for the semester will be scheduled prior to the first lesson.

If a student misses a scheduled lesson, there will be an opportunity for one make-up lesson during the spring semester if the teacher is given a 24-hour notice. Any other missed lessons will not be rescheduled or refunded.

If a student is 15 minutes late, the lesson will be counted as an absence and will not be reschedule
Financial Agreement

Payment for a semester of lessons may be made in full on the first lesson of the semester or in monthly payments. The first monthly payment is due on the first lesson, then following payments are due the fifteenth of each month.

Failure to pay on time will result in a $5 fee.

Checks: Students may make a payment by writing a check payable to Justine Ostrander. In the event of a returned check, the student is responsible for reimbursement for the amount of the check and the bank fee for the returned check.

Permission Waver
-
Shining Stars Music Studio reserves absolute rights and permission to use, reproduce, copy, exhibit, or distribute any videotape, audiotape, photographs, or computer files in which the student may be included for use in publicity or any other such purpose. Families needing an exemption due to extenuating circumstances must request an exemption form from Justine Ostrander.
